RHN FALL Meeting

Tour of the Trees and History of Russian Hill Sunday, September 12 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Bottom of Vallejo St stairs between Taylor St and Mason St Certified arborist Ted Kipping and architect and local historian Joe Butler will lead a walking tour of the trees and history of Russian Hill. It is a steep hike with interesting plantings, fabulous views, and engaging history. Gather at the bottom of the Vallejo St stairs for the start. Accessible from MUNI bus lines 30, 41, and 45. RSVP Sarah Campbell, Education Coordinator, Friends of the Urban Forest at sarah@fuf.net or call at (415) 268-0780. 1st Annual Polk Street Blues Festival Saturday and Sunday, September 25-26 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Polk St from Pacific St to Union St The festival will feature two main stages, a merchant marketplace, arts and crafts, gourmet food booths, a large family area,, cafe seating areas, and much more. SF Sunday Streets is Back March - October San Francisco kicked off Sunday Streets 2010 season with the closure of the Embarcadero in March. This coming April 11 the Great Highway and JFK drive in Golden Gate Park will be open to skaters, bikers, walkers, runners but not cars! Get out and enjoy the exercise and the events. California Academy of Science Free Days October 15-17 The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco has announced the dates of its neighborhood free days for 2010. For the past 11 years, the museum has designated certain weekends each year where residents can enter free of charge with a valid photo ID and proof of residency. Russian Hill residents have free days on June 11-13 and October 15-17. For more information click academyfreedays. Farmer's Market at Fort Mason Sundays, July - October 9:30 am - 1:30 pm Be sure to visit this nearby market. First of the season cherries from San Joaquin Valley, Farmstead Cheese from Nicasio Valley, organic vegetables from Brentwood, eggs, beef, fish, and fresh baked goods! Farmer's Market at North Beach Sundays, June 13 - October 24 9:00 am - 1:00 am Mason St between Columbus Ave and Lombard St near Joe DiMaggio Playground The market will offer the community a wide variety of local and organize farm fresh goodies.
